The Holiday Inn Westbury – Long Island was recently asked to donate soap and some other common hotel supplies from Samaritan Purse Operation Christmas Child, and the Hotel gladly obliged.
When asked to do so the hotel’s general manager, Franklin Manchester was quick to find out more about the organization and how they could possibly do more. He quickly spoke to his management team and the owners of the Holiday Inn Westbury, Mr. and Mrs. Barry and Ellen Halperin. All agreed they wanted and needed to do more, and from there they got the ball rolling.
The Hotel’s corporate sales manager, Steff Marrero happened to have some past experience with Operation Christmas Child; therefore, Steff volunteered to turn what started out as a relatively small donation to a much more involved commitment to making a much larger impact. Steff contacted the local office of Samaritan Purse to find out how the Hotel could become a box packing location. Steff soon had 100 boxes in hand for a packing event that took place on Friday, November 21st. The Hotel purchased over $800.00 of various gift items to fill their 100 boxes. They were able to accomplish their mission in filling boxes for boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 14 that will now be distributed to children in need from all over the world, specifically third world countries….
